Hidalgo County Commissioners Court approved several capital procurements and construction contract awards during the session.
Purchasing staff requested and the court approved a work authorization not to exceed $59,170 for project management, consultant procurement and AFA development for the Russell Chapin Road hike-and-bike project. The court also approved a membership-based purchase for a splash pad not to exceed $662,631.62 through a cooperative purchasing program and approved a $127,000 purchase of a 2023 Freightliner grapple truck to support county operations.
Planning and procurement staff also presented multiple construction contract awards for street improvements and single-family housing demolition/reconstruction services across precincts; motions to approve those contracts carried by voice vote.
The court approved the procurement items after staff noted scoring, funding sources and compliance with procurement rules. Some items (e.g., certain consent agenda entries) were pulled for separate consideration and a commissioner abstained where a conflict was recorded.
