Commission elects Steven Emert chair and Tim Isbel vice chair

The Anderson County Board of Commissioners elected Commissioner Steven Emert as chairman and Commissioner Tim Isbel as vice chairman at its Sept. 19, 2016 regular meeting in Clinton. The nominations were made from the floor and carried by voice vote.

"Commissioner Steven Emert be elected as Chirman of County Commission," a motion recorded in the minutes shows, after which commissioners voted to close nominations and elect Emert. The vice-chair nomination of Tim Isbel was likewise moved and carried without recorded opposition. The clerk recorded the attendance of all commissioners and noted no absences for the session.

The new chairman will preside over the commission's business, including committee appointments and oversight of county resolutions and budgets. The organizational votes were part of a broader consent and nominations block that also updated committee memberships for the coming year.
