Sarah Williams, communications coordinator for Huber Heights, briefed the council Sept. 28 on the Citizens Academy and announced a new daytime Civic Series targeted to seniors.
Williams said the Citizens Academy will expand from eight to nine weeks in 2027 (police and fire sessions separated) and will run Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m.; the application window will open Oct. 1 at 8 a.m. and close Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. "October 1 at 8AM, that'll be when they're live on the city's website, and then close at 5PM November 13," Williams said. She noted the class is free, capped at 25 participants with priority by ward, and that council members are invited to attend classes and graduation night.
Williams also outlined a new five‑week Huber Heights Civic Series at the senior center: one‑hour daytime sessions offering a 50,000‑foot view of city government topics (city government overview; tax dollars; keeping the city running; public safety; quality of life). Council members praised the program's transparency and outreach, and staff said promotional materials will go live Oct. 1.
