The Priceville City Council approved two resolutions appointing part‑time municipal judges and administered the oath to at least one appointee in open session.
Resolution 2026‑13 appointed James Patrick Caber as presiding part‑time municipal judge, effective Oct. 1, 2026 through Nov. 8, 2027, and the council approved Resolution 2026‑14 appointing Melissa Aaron as an associate part‑time municipal judge for the same effective dates. The motions for both appointments were moved, seconded and approved on the record.
During the open meeting oath, the appointee spoke the oath formula: "I, James Patrick Caber, do solemnly swear or affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Alabama… and that I will faithfully and honestly discharge the duties of the office of municipal judge of the City of Priceville," and was administered the oath by the presiding official present. Mayor Hedlund and councilmembers offered congratulations and expressed appreciation for court staff who support municipal proceedings.
The council did not discuss compensation or judicial duties in detail during the appointment; the resolutions recorded the effective dates. The council noted gratitude for prior service and the continuing role of staff and police in court operations.
