The San Antonio Board of Adjustment handled a full docket of development requests and finished the afternoon with a series of approvals and continuances.
Key outcomes included approval of a 20‑foot lighting height variance allowing 50‑foot poles for an H‑E‑B facility at 2045 South Foster Road (staff and the applicant submitted photometric analysis and MLOD compliance information); multiple setback and buffer variances for the longstanding commercial property at 1514 Rigsby Avenue; a lot‑size variance for 350 Madero Street; approval of a 6‑foot predominantly open front‑yard fence special exception for a Charter/Spectrum telecom hub on Huebner Road; and negotiated NCD‑5 relief for a carport at 1224 West French Place with conditions (gutter installation and projection limits). Several applicants requested continuances and items (including item 5 and 10) were moved to the Board’s October 12 meeting to ensure a full panel when votes could be decisive.
Chair Orian noted the board’s requirement that a motion must get 75% of the total membership (nine votes when the board is full) to carry and urged applicants to coordinate with staff about revised plans and permit requirements. Staff will follow up on required permit filings, verification of neighbor notices, and enforcement or mitigation items noted in motions.
