Mallory Bradshaw, a parent in the district, opened public comment saying she was "concerned by several recent decisions and behaviors that are compromising the safety, dignity, and education of our children," and she urged the board to "protect our libraries, unlock our restrooms, and ensure that our educators are treated with the professionalism they deserve." (Mallory Bradshaw spoke during the public comment period.)
Kevin Jackson, president of the Beaumont Teachers Association, said teacher morale and staffing are under strain following the state takeover and recent leadership choices. "Many veteran teachers have already resigned and are considering resigning by Christmas," Jackson told the board, and he called for more transparency and collaboration: "Listening is an action." The meeting heard similar accounts from multiple classroom teachers and parents who told trustees that late curriculum rollout, inconsistent behavior management, and public criticism of staff have increased turnover and eroded trust.
The board did not respond in a back-and-forth during public comment; the chair reminded speakers that the board will not engage during that portion of the meeting. The concerns raised intersect with other agenda items at the meeting, including presentations on curriculum timelines, attendance and teacher support measures that administrators presented later in the session.
