Superintendent Scott used the Sept. 17 meeting to preview four district goals staff will develop in October: (1) academic targets tied to standardized assessments (SAT, PSAT and state science standards); (2) an updated five‑year strategic plan that will be integrated with the district’s five‑year capital plan and playing fields work; (3) stepped‑up communications using Instagram and a superintendent’s update; and (4) a refreshed tuition policy to evaluate tuition‑based students as a potential revenue source.
Scott said the district intends to do the work in‑house rather than outsourcing the strategic plan because of costs and knowledge of district needs. "We're going to build upon some of the things...and then kind of outreach to the community to the board," he said, asking board members to signal support so staff can begin work.
The board asked whether the work was realistic to finish in a year; Scott said early start makes it feasible and staff will return with a more detailed timeline and drafts in October. The superintendent also announced the Shoreline Music Festival (Oct. 6) and rehearsals and community events tied to that schedule.
Board members generally supported beginning the planning work and asked staff to circulate more detailed timelines and committee participation plans.
