Michael Redlinger, a city staff member leading the budget presentation, told the Finance Committee that staff had incorporated feedback from the Sept. 23 session and subsequent cabinet meetings and that the current package "remains in balance with the preliminary budget as presented today and as will be considered and approved on Monday."
The presentation outlined a conservative position that shows a $132,000 positive margin and reflects adjustments in multiple areas, including developer-fee assumptions and personnel timing. Redlinger and other staff emphasized continued cabinet input and that the commission will receive a slide deck at the Sept. 28 full commission meeting that satisfies statutory submission timelines. Commissioners raised follow-up questions on timing, academy schedules for police hiring and the assumptions behind revenue growth projections; no member objected to advancing the budget to the Sept. 28 meeting for final consideration.
