The Craig A. Mo Laurel Multi-Service Center marked its second anniversary since opening on Sept. 11, 2024, and the segment reported the center has served more than 20,000 individuals by connecting people with meals, mobile dental services, transitional housing and other supports. The on-air profile framed World Homeless Day as an opportunity to raise awareness, celebrate progress and advocate for additional funding and services.
"It's a critical issue ... World Homeless Day. It's a day to bring awareness about, you know, circumstances of folks who are experienced housing instability," Human Services Director Marshall LeBlanc said. Client Anthony Lombardo, who said he previously worked as a paramedic firefighter before a medical problem, described the center as a lifesaver and said services such as showers, laundry and meals helped him stay safe and regain stability.
