Alejandra Mesa, TOSA for the multilingual department, walked listeners through the identification and support process for English learners: a home-language survey at enrollment prompts a screening, and families can review assessment details and reports. The program described LPAC as "un examen del estado de California" and Mesa described meetings where staff will review LPAC reports and explain them to parents who may see unfamiliar numbers in ParentSquare messages.
Mesa also outlined accessibility supports: schools and the district provide interpretation in Spanish and Mixteco, and interpreters for additional languages can be requested by school staff. She urged parents that they do not need to be experts to attend ILAC meetings—initial attendance as a listener is encouraged so they can learn how meetings work before raising questions.
