The Economic Development Commission voted to make Mike Robu its chair at the regular meeting. Robu accepted the nomination and told commissioners he plans to share leadership responsibilities and asked members to support the commission’s work between meetings.
Robu said he wanted the role to be collaborative: "I'm going to make my first motion as the chairman," he said, framing his approach as facilitation rather than doing all the work himself. Commissioners agreed to hold meetings on the third Thursday of each month and emphasized the need for agendas and minutes to be circulated several days in advance.
Members discussed operational details, including the search for a recording secretary and improved pre-meeting materials to reduce in-meeting briefing. The commission also agreed to explore a simple notification system (email or group text) for one-way announcements while being careful to avoid deliberations outside of posted meetings.
