Okcoy Middle School staff told the district podcast that students produce the school's morning show and that Career and Technical Education (CTE) offerings—like a business and marketing class—support student skills and real-world learning.
Instructional technology supervisor Scott Webb described student media opportunities: "we've got students doing this for our morning show just like we do at the other secondary schools. We've got a a business and marketing class that's a CTE class." Webb and Dr. Lindberg said these programs let students practice technical and workplace skills while contributing to school communications.
Why it matters: hosts and staff said hands-on media and CTE classes broaden pathways into careers and increase engagement by allowing students to apply classroom learning to visible projects.
Next steps: staff said production and CTE offerings will continue as part of the school year programming and are being integrated with other extracurricular opportunities.
