Homeowner and applicant Kathy Vitansza told the commission she and her family purchased the 1940 residence at 28245 Driver Avenue to create space for multigenerational living. "My name is Kathy Vitansza. I've lived in Westlake Agura area for pretty much my whole life," she said, describing her ties to the neighborhood and the decision to remodel to accommodate family needs after the death of her husband in 2025.
Vitansza said the existing plan resulted in awkward circulation because the house appears as a one-story from the street but has a larger two-story massing at the rear. The remodel adds a loft to improve vertical and visual connectivity, reorganizes interior rooms and proposes a porch to better signal the front entry from the street. She said the homeowners have engaged a general contractor and architect and the design incorporated ARP feedback on rooflines, windows and stone details.
Vitansza also indicated willingness to work with neighbors about fence issues raised in written comments; the commission approved the entitlement and the homeowner will proceed to building permits if there is no appeal.
