Representatives of Davidson Troyo Ree & Garza told Port Aransas council that their firm specializes in municipal law and offers a team approach to city representation.
Partner Spencer Neely introduced the firm and said Frank Garza would be the proposed point of contact. Neely said the firm had undertaken an S&P-like approach to municipal legal needs and highlighted areas of expertise including utility and water law, open meetings and procurement. "One of our kind of hardline policies as a firm is we never sue cities," Neely said, explaining that the firm avoids representing developers in opposition to municipalities and seeks to offer cost-effective options that minimize litigation.
Colleague Austin Beck said the firm maintains a deep bench of municipal attorneys and can supply coverage for council meetings and urgent needs; the presenters emphasized their experience advising on public information acts, municipal prosecution and drafting ordinances and contracts. They told council they can tailor staffing to the city's meeting schedule and budgets and offered to be available on Thursdays when Port Aransas typically meets.
