Road & Bridge Director Mr. Davis reported a busy construction season and a large slate of projects completed and in progress.
"as a total right now we have 65.9 61 miles of road that has been completed this year," Mr. Davis said, and staff described overlays, chip seal miles completed (34.95 miles by contractor) and another 4.55 miles in progress. Mr. Davis also briefed the court on upcoming warranty work and roadside mowing schedules.
The court approved multiple related items on the consent agenda. Commissioners authorized a pre‑bid lease purchase to replace four dump trucks through the Texas interlocal purchasing system; staff noted a per‑unit price increase of about $43,000 but said buyback changes left the deal acceptable. The court also approved a new service agreement for an operations tracking program (iWork) to replace an unsupported Microsoft database, with rollout planned for November–December 2023, and it approved an Enterprise Fleet Management quote for a 2024 Ford F‑350 to replace an aging county service truck.
Court discussion covered practical concerns such as warranty work and how Road & Bridge will provide reports to commissioners. All equipment and contract approvals passed 4–0.
