The Town of Jackson Board of Trustees voted to adopt the 2020–2021 budget at the regular meeting held Sept. 14, 2020 at the Jackson Fire Department Hall. Trustee Mike Harrell moved to adopt the budget; Don Havard seconded and the motion passed.
Holli Gilmore presented the budget-versus-actual summary and compared year-to-date spending. A member of the public, Jim Parker, pointed out that the date on the report was incorrect and asked that the date be corrected before final filing. Rafe Stewart moved for a roll-call vote to approve the financial report; the board approved the report and payment of bills. "All items on the floor if not stated otherwise were passed unanimously," the minutes record.
Why it matters: adopting the annual budget sets appropriation levels and spending priorities for town services through the fiscal year. Trustees also approved an amendment to the 2019–2020 budget at the same meeting, which the board accepted on a motion by Rafe Stewart and second by Don Havard.
What’s next: The board did not record any conditions or reservations linked to the budget adoption in the minutes. Town staff were asked to correct the date on the budget report noted by a member of the public.
