The State Board of Education heard a department presentation on proposed regulatory cleanups that would remove outdated or duplicative reporting requirements across Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) chapters.
Amelia Tibo, a department staff member, summarized the changes, saying the department identified provisions that were "no longer being collected" and recommended removal to streamline reporting. She listed the main actions as removing a charter-school budget reporting requirement in NAC 387 (expenses related to activities to influence legislation), eliminating a duplicative industry-recognized credentials report in NAC 389, and repealing a long-unused special-education program units provision (3D7400).
The department said the changes stem from recent reporting-efficiency work, including a report to the education service center and internal review, and noted better data are now available through alternative reports. No public commenters opposed the proposed removals during the workshop.
The board did not take a formal vote at the session; the presentation was informational and staff invited stakeholders to submit written feedback as the regulatory review proceeds.
