The board received an overview of Executive Order 2603 and how the Nevada Department of Education plans to solicit stakeholder input to align and clarify administrative regulations under its jurisdiction.
Amelia Tibo, a department staff member, said Executive Order 2603 "is an opportunity for the department and its boards and commissions to rigorously engage with its stakeholders and education partners regarding the totality of Nevada administrative code under the jurisdiction of the department." She noted staff issued guidance number 2616, published an index of education regulations to help stakeholders find the most up-to-date versions, and invited written recommendations to superintendent[at]nv.gov through October 29. Tibo also listed upcoming public engagements: a prior presentation on Sept. 16, another on Sept. 23 (teachers and leaders council), and an Oct. 7 item at the State Board meeting.
The department framed the exercise as both a cleanup of outdated provisions and an opportunity to improve alignment across chapters; staff encouraged commenters to use the index and the prolonged comment period to submit detailed feedback.
