Huntsville Independent School District said it is expanding how it shares school news by encouraging students and staff to create their own media. "We're beginning to rethink how we share some of those stories," the superintendent said, framing the initiative as a shift from district-only messaging to giving students and staff a direct platform.
The program builds on a longstanding partnership with CASAM and will begin with audio pieces aired on local station KSAM. "Our community engagement team can help provide the tools, the production, and the platform," the superintendent said. "Get out of the way and let people tell their own stories," he added. "I'm Travis Fanning, superintendent of Huntsville ISD, and I approve this message." The district said it will learn as it goes and hopes to add videos, podcasts and social-media content over time so more classroom and extracurricular moments reach the public.
