City staff described plans for a career-technology innovation experience for 8th through 12th grade girls that will include hands-on immersive activities and a speaker program in the Spectrum Center bowl.
"It all started with an idea from our CIO, Markel Storey," the staff member said, explaining that the model came from another city and was adapted for Charlotte. The staff member said the event aims to show participants "how cool technology is, what innovation looks like in practice" and to let students "share the future of this community."
Organizers said students will hear from a variety of women leaders about their career journeys. The staff member said the goal is to create experiences that help young people see technology and innovation as accessible and practical career paths. No date, funding details, or formal program roster were provided in the remarks.
