The Trousdale County School Board approved a renovation amendment for the high-school fieldhouse with a directive to clarify scope language before issuing a request for proposals.
Administrators described the project as work limited to the red‑brick building housing public restrooms and a small meeting/visiting-team area; board members sought removal of wording that would convert visiting-team spaces into additional meeting rooms and asked that the architect correct the scope. Miss Coffin said she had confirmed with architect John Cheney that the red-brick building was the intended scope and agreed to remove the visiting-team conversion language prior to moving ahead with the RFP process.
Trustees discussed timing and cost: the architect previously told staff that construction would take about six months, so if bidding and selection began in winter the district hoped to complete work by graduation in late spring. Board members emphasized phased work and cost control, and asked administrators to assemble a stakeholder team including the high‑school principal, maintenance and athletic staff to prepare a consolidated plan for the board’s October meeting.
A motion to approve the project with the requested scope change carried by voice vote. The board instructed staff to revise the RFP language and return with final documents before contract award.
