Voters in the John Germain Memorial Library district in Sag Harbor will decide on a proposed budget of about $3,960,000 on Thursday, Sept. 24, the broadcast reported.
"The dollar amount up for a vote is approximately $3,960,000," Tess Quinlan said during the newscast. The anchor added that Kelly Harris, the library director, said the year‑over‑year spending increase is $107,484 and that the proposal remains below New York state's tax‑levy limit; if approved, the anchor said homeowners of a $1,000,000 property could expect a tax impact of about $1.20 per month. Four trustee candidates — Penelope Green, Meghan Curran Schmidt, Michael Garabedian and Daniel Hernandez — are listed in the library materials.
Why this matters: library budgets determine local services, materials and trustee representation; the broadcast directed voters to the library's materials and noted trustee statements are available in the library newsletter.
