Bayonne awards Broadway sidewalk improvements contract to AA Breams LLC

The Bayonne City Council awarded the Broadway sidewalk improvements contract to AA Breams LLC for $891,543 during its Sept. 16 meeting. The project will repair sidewalks on the Broadway corridor and include streetscape work intended to improve the pedestrian environment for local businesses.

Speakers from the Urban Enterprise Zone noted the work will cover sections such as 5th Street to Cottage and 18th to 22nd Street, and includes sidewalk repair, tree grates and streetscape elements. Councilmembers voted on the resolution; one councilmember abstained citing lack of preparation but the contract authorization passed on the recorded vote.

Officials said the initiative is meant to give the business district a refreshed look and to assist property owners with improvements while keeping future maintenance responsibilities with the property owners.
