Commission staff showed commissioners a track‑changes version of the city’s age‑friendly action plan and said the biggest structural change is removing fixed timelines and replacing them with progress measures.
"The biggest change was removing the timelines from all of the tasks and making it more of a progression, like, what have we done to make progress?" Director Matthew Wright said. Commissioners reviewed edits and individual domain updates; several members noted they still need to finish domains 6–8 and recommended a dedicated workshop to finish the work.
Commissioner discussion centered on resources and methodology for a community needs assessment. One commissioner proposed adapting the San Antonio Area Foundation survey and noted she had used an AI tool to tailor that instrument for Buda: "I took the salsa survey, put it into chat GPT, and had it recreated for Buda," she said, offering to share the draft. Commissioners also recommended touching base with the regional Area Agency on Aging (the AAA through CAPCOG) to learn existing needs‑assessment work before duplicating effort.
Staff and commissioners agreed to aim for a workshop to cover domains 6–8 in November, asking domain leads to sketch agendas in advance and for staff to circulate the track‑changes file and domain assignments before the next meeting.
