Board finds in favor of contract abandonment for a kindergarten teacher

Administration brought an action item asking the board to consider approving a finding that probationary kindergarten teacher Lamica Doss abandoned her employment contract with Cedar Hill ISD after submitting a resignation on Aug. 12, 2026.

Staff summarized communications: HR notified the teacher that she must remain within the bounds of her contract until a replacement was found and warned that failure to do so could lead to a job-abandonment finding; staff said they received no subsequent communication and recommended a finding under Texas Education Code §21.105 and 19 TAC 249.14.

A trustee moved the motion stating the recommended finding in accordance with the cited TEC and TAC sections; the motion was seconded and the board voted unanimously to approve the recommendation.
