The Legislature approved a resolution modifying the 2026 community services budget after the county’s Children's Single Point of Access (C‑SPO) program received additional state aid.
A Community Services presenter explained that the state added responsibilities related to determining eligibility for some youth services not covered by Medicaid, and that the county received about $106,797 this year (up from a prior base of $74,000). “Next year, we will get a total of $216,400 for this service,” the presenter said. The resolution authorizing the budget update was moved by Legislator Burke and seconded by Legislator Kern and was approved by voice vote.
The change is budgetary reallocation to reflect new revenue and to align appropriations with the additional program responsibilities; staff said it is intended to cover administrative and service‑delivery costs associated with the expanded eligibility work. The board did not change service eligibility policy at this meeting; any operational changes will be administered by Community Services staff under the terms of the state aid.
