The meeting chair walked attendees through MapIndy and Accela/Exela, showing how to zoom to parcels, access assessor records, view aerial imagery and retrieve permit and attachment documents that reveal plans, sign permits and contact information. She then explained the code-enforcement workflow: filing a complaint generates an INV inspection number; inspection results and any violation case numbers then appear in the portal and citations are documented if the owner fails to remedy a violation. The chair cautioned that once code enforcement prepares a legal file it can take about a year for a city prosecutor to pick it up and for court action to proceed, calling that delay "a problem."
