At the Jan. 3 meeting, Treasurer Gary Pacheco gave the association’s financial update and reported the KNA checking balance at 6958.71 after expenses and income. The figure was provided to inform budget considerations and routine allocations.
PTSA representative Lori Patch reported that a student dance is planned for Jan. 20 at Kilauea Elementary. Yoshito L’Hote reported strong progress on the Ag Center project, noting final planning and planned construction of phase two — a farmers market — for 2017. L’Hote also said that Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge had seen large holiday crowds.
During announcements, Gary Pacheco told members the county fire chief is looking into building a fire station in Kilauea and suggested the board begin to think about possible 1½-acre locations. He also noted the North Shore Lions Golf tournament on Jan. 14; no formal action on a fire station site was taken at the meeting.
