The Kilauea Neighborhood Association voted to prepare and mail draft edits to the Kauai general plan intended to address North Shore land-use questions. Charlie Martin moved and Thomas Pickett seconded a motion to prepare Beryl Blaich’s draft recommendations, include board input, and send the letter to the Kauai County Planning Commission; the motion carried unanimously.
Beryl told the board that the County Planning Commission has put the possibility of downzoning much of the resort land in Princeville back into the general plan, and she presented a set of suggested edits for the North Shore. Community member Greg Crowe, who attends planning meetings, summarized the issues and noted that an Aloha+ Challenge Kauai event is scheduled at the same time as an upcoming County Planning Commission meeting that is reserved for public input on the Kauai general plan.
The minutes record no formal roll-call or individual vote tallies for the motion. The board directed staff to incorporate members’ input into the draft letter and have it mailed to the Planning Commission; the minutes do not list the letter text or a mailing date.
