KNA to invite Kauai planning head after community questions Plateau subdivision map

Andy Friend presented the draft map for the proposed Plateau subdivision of the Bill Hay property and displayed the most recent version to the board and community. Jim O’Connor urged residents to question the motives behind the subdivision beyond the parcels designated for a credit-union lot and a proposed new entryway into Kīlauea, and to participate in the county general plan update and subdivision approval process.

In response, Ginny Shinn moved and Carrie Souza seconded a motion asking Kauai County planning head Mike Dahilig to attend the July 11 KNA meeting to explain how the community can meaningfully participate in the update process; the motion carried unanimously. The minutes record the invitation but do not include a confirmed attendance date from county staff.
