The Pike County Fiscal Court voted Sept. 18 to keep the county’s 2026 fiscal rates unchanged: 18¢ per $100 of assessed value on real property, 25¢ on personal property and 14¢ on motor vehicles and watercraft. The judge moved to retain the rates and the motion passed on a roll-call vote.
The court also acknowledged a set of outside-district rates that appear on county tax bills but are set elsewhere: the conservation district (8¢ per $100), the Board of Health (6¢ per $100), the Extension Board ($3.80 per $100 on real and personal property; $1.10 on vehicles), and the Pike County Public Library District (9.9¢ per $100 on real and personal property; $2.39 on vehicles). "The rates are unchanged," the judge said during the discussion. Officials told a visiting high-school AP Government class that the bulk of property taxes in the county go to school districts, not the fiscal court, and offered comparisons of county versus school rates.
