Groundbreaking held for new Fire Station 22 in St. Pete Beach

Officials and community members formally broke ground on a new Fire Station 22 in St. Pete Beach, marking the start of what speakers described as a long-term investment in emergency facilities and community resilience. "Today is an important day in our community. We're here to break ground a new fire station 22," the Presenter said, framing the ceremony as more than the construction of a building.

Speakers at the ceremony emphasized that the station is meant to ensure firefighters and paramedics have the equipment and resources they need "today and for many years to come." A Lawmaker at the event said the municipality had secured state support for the project, noting that "St. Pete Beach has gotten um about half of this station funded by the state" and offering public thanks to Governor DeSantis for his assistance. No dollar total, detailed funding breakdown, or construction timeline was provided in the remarks.

An Agency official highlighted the project's role in local resiliency planning, urging investments to prepare for future storms and saying communities must be ready because "it's not it's not an if, it's a when" a storm returns. The official and other participants repeatedly praised the area's firefighters and paramedics, calling them "heroes" and saying the resilient building is "well deserved." The ceremony closed with a formal announcement of the groundbreaking and a pledge to build a resilient station for St. Pete Beach residents, businesses and visitors.
