Town Supervisor Joseph d Cavasini opened the 125th Wappinger Dahlia Show at Mizzier Park on the front porch of the Mizzier Homestead, welcoming residents and exhibitors to the town’s signature horticultural event. "I'm your town supervisor, Joseph d Cavasini, and we are here at Mizzier Park and actually on the front porch of the historic Mizzier Homestead," he said, noting the show’s longevity and ties to local history.
Cavasini framed the event as both a celebration of community and of horticulture, saying the tradition began when Nassau Cottom was brought from England and later formed the Wappinger Dahlia Society. He said he was "looking forward to presenting the Wappinger Supervisor's Award, to the best dahlia," and that multiple awards would be handed out during the day. The remarks served as the event’s formal opening before a series of displays and presentations by local growers.
