Kathleen Leahy told the Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees that the district's grading and class‑rank methodology (referenced as EIC policy) was not applied consistently in a situation affecting seniors and that the district's acknowledgement of practice gaps is insufficient as a remedy.
"We have never asked for special rights... We are asking for equal rights, equal application of the district's own grading policies," Leahy said, reading her prepared remarks. She said the district acknowledged "holes" in practice and set an expectation an administrative response would arrive by Sept. 23, but she asked trustees to ensure that the response is more than an explanation and results in corrective action for students graduating now.
Leahy emphasized that affected seniors "cannot go back and redo their course decisions" and asked the board not to treat the issue as only a lesson for the future. The board thanked Leahy and said an administrator or staff member would follow up with her.
