Program leaders described two near-term changes to the enabling-technology (ET) process intended to streamline referrals and confirm device readiness.
"You are going to start to see an updated post claim that includes installation dates and training dates," Kyle Baughman said. "As per our ET service definition, part of that post claim and the reimbursement hinges on knowing that the installation and the training has been completed." He added that the change will require providers to confirm installation and user training before reimbursement.
Baughman said the program will retire the ET screening tool and move to the 1915 CET assessment, adding three MAPS-specific questions (milestones, member ID, and support-context notes). "Only difference is we're adding a couple MAPS pieces if MAPS is selected from that assessment form," he said. The 1915 CET-based form will automate referrals, send results to coordinators and ET tech champions, and reduce pass-offs in the referral chain.
Why it matters: Requiring installation and training dates aims to ensure devices are usable and supports training documentation for reimbursements; moving to the 1915 CET assessment will align MAPS referrals with established assessment workflows and reduce administrative handoffs.
