Recreation staff reported expanding participation in programs including Zumba, volleyball, open gym sessions and a fall pickleball league that filled quickly; the department also plans to roll the city’s new mobile stage out for National Night Out on Oct. 10.
"On October 10 with the National Night Out, Mayor Morris' son's band has actually agreed to play," said recreation staff, describing plans to use the new trailer-style stage for the event and naming contracted sound staff. Staff said pickleball registration produced 68 participants across 17 mixed doubles teams, and that Wednesday open gym attendance has grown to more than 30 participants on some nights.
The department expects to use the stage for community programming and police demonstrations; staff said they will continue to coordinate with parks and police for logistics and promotion and will post ticket and event details when available.
