The Yucca Valley Town Council voted to accept the MacKess Park and playground replacement project as substantially complete and authorized staff to file a notice of completion, reduce the faithful performance bond to 10% and retain the labor and materials bond for six months.
Public works staff told the council the construction contract was awarded on November 5, 2024 to Micron Construction Incorporated for $263,297 with a construction contingency of $26,700. Staff said the project was funded by Measure Y with a total allocation of $300,000; the project used $290,274.75 with approximately $9,700 remaining.
A brief public comment from Eric Menendez thanked staff and praised the project, and council members praised the design, safety upgrades and community uptake after a ribbon-cutting earlier in the day. Council members then moved, seconded and approved the staff recommendation by roll-call vote.
Council directed staff to file the notice of completion and to proceed with the bond adjustments noted in the staff report. The acceptance authorizes staff actions to begin closeout work and retain the labor and material bond for six months to address any warranty items.
