Town project staff and the construction consultant gave a quarterly progress report on the Aquatics & Recreation Center. The presentation covered activities from January through March, construction milestones and near-term tasks.
Staff reported that site excavation and installation of underground utilities (water, storm water, sewer, electrical and communications) are complete, footings have been poured and several slabs for building sections are in place. The consultant said block starter walls and the first rows of block walls have begun and structural steel erection for portions of the facility is upcoming. Staff also noted that Joshua tree removals on-site occurred with the proper permits and a biologist on site.
Regarding schedule, staff said, "at the end of the 3rd quarter, we are 39 and have only 444 calendar days remaining for target completion," signaling that major structural work is underway but significant work remains. Council members praised steady progress and reiterated interest in quality and durability as work moves vertical.
The report was received and filed; council did not take a vote on funding at this hearing but will continue to receive quarterly updates as the project moves forward.
