Warren County officials provided a snapshot of the county jail during the DHS visit, saying the facility holds roughly 270 inmates and that 14 of those are on immigration detainers.
"We currently house around 270 inmates in our facility. Of those 270, there's 14 that are um on immigration ICE detainers," the jail official identified as Kevin stated. He said seven of those 14 detainees were being held on felony‑level charges and seven were misdemeanors; several detainees were already sentenced.
Sheriff Riley and other local law‑enforcement leaders said detainers arose from arrests across eight different jurisdictions in the county and argued that 287(g) collaboration helps officers identify and process noncitizens who are also accused of local crimes. No court records or case‑level confirmations were presented during the event.
Local officials said the task‑force model used in Warren County allows local officers to work alongside federal agents and to free up resources for broader policing activities. The county did not announce changes to booking or detention policy at the event.
