Parks board clears wellness fair, vaccination clinic and Red Cross blood drive at senior center

Allison Beaker asked the parks board for permission to host a senior wellness fair that would bring hospice providers, nursing homes, doctors and other health professionals to speak to small groups, combined with a vaccination clinic offered by the health department and an American Red Cross blood drive.

Beaker framed the events as outreach to attract new participants and to showcase the senior center as rentable for community events. The board indicated no separate motion was needed so long as city staff would supervise the events; Beaker said the health department would provide flu and COVID vaccinations at the clinic.
