Enrollment staff explained that the district's student information system runs at roughly $200,000 per year and that the district already licenses that system for IPS schools; to add a lottery function the staff proposed purchasing the PowerSchool lottery module for an additional $17,000 this year, including vendor training.
"For the student information system, it runs a little under the student information system, which... that runs a little under $200,000 a year," a Staff member said, and later clarified: "we are only adding the lottery module, which is 17,000 for this year" and that the first year cost includes training and vendor support. Staff argued the addition would let families use credentials they already have and would preserve the parent experience by keeping registration inside the district's system.
Board members pushed back with questions about the lack of a transition year and the risk that changing systems could cause enrollment drop-off. Commissioner pressed staff for benchmarks and regular reporting tied to the board's enrollment goal and asked how the district would monitor and pivot if metrics show the district is off track.
