Board approves $30,001.83 replacement for utility office roof; insurer to cover part

The board approved replacing the utility office roof after a presentation that described extensive hail damage and a prolonged insurance review. Chair outlined work to remove the old roof, replace decking, install insulation board and PVC membrane and noted the insurer would initially provide about $4,800 and could pay an additional $4,100 once the code-required R-value upgrade is complete.

Chair presented the contractor estimate of $30,001.83 and said, "It's $30,001.83." He moved to accept the quote and fund the work from multiple town accounts if necessary; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Chair also said the insurer's R-value payment would offset part of the town's cost if the additional work was done and verified to the insurer.
