Huntertown's town council voted to approve a confirmatory resolution designating an economic revitalization area for API Alliance LLC, a proposal town staff said would support a local manufacturing operation.
Rachel of Black Hen County Economic Development told the council the applicant plans roughly $1 million in manufacturing and logistical equipment to produce home‑detention ankle bracelets, and that the investment is expected to create about 15 new jobs (salaries she summarized at roughly $900,000) and retain 57 jobs (salaries she summarized at about $2.7 million). "Based on the point system within your tax abatement policy they are eligible for a 7‑year tax abatement with estimated tax savings a little over $26,000 over that seven‑year period," Rachel said during the public hearing.
Staff said the abatement calculation reflects the town's point system and that taxes will be phased in; the town expects API Alliance to still pay more than $20,000 over the seven‑year period as phased payments commence. Council heard no public opposition during the hearing and moved to adopt the confirmatory resolution; the motion passed on a roll call vote.
The resolution is an administrative designation that enables the abatement process under state and local rules; staff and the applicant will complete required fiscal‑plan documentation and follow notice and adoption steps before any tax‑abatement agreement is executed. Council did not vote on an abatement contract in the meeting record; the resolution approved the designation that enables subsequent action.
