During public comment, Dave, a homeowner and business owner of many years, said recent town road work damaged his driveway and surrounding areas and that the contractor, SNS, had not completed promised repairs.
"If somebody trips, falls, breaks your leg, am I liable? Does the town be liable? SNS liable? I don't know," Dave asked, describing a cutout and an asphalt wedge that he said was left unrepaired despite multiple requests. He said the original pour appeared thin compared with the existing thick slab and expressed concern that future elected officials or staff might not honor a staff promise to fix the problem next summer.
Town staff said the project is not closed out, that walk‑throughs were conducted and that project retainage and subcontracting had delayed final patch work. Staff offered to coordinate a contractor estimate and suggested packaging concrete repairs to obtain the best per‑foot price; staff also offered to draft a written commitment from the town to ensure a repair occurs. Council did not act on a separate motion in public comment but directed staff to follow up and provide written confirmation.
