Miss Green, the business office presenter for Springfield Township SD, opened the finance committee's fiscal review with an early-year snapshot of revenues and expenditures. "The top part shows what the approved budget was um for 2627 with anticipated use of fund balance of about $715,000," she said, and added that the district has realized roughly $40.8 million of its revenue budget so far.
Miss Green emphasized timing patterns that drive the figures: "Where we are at to date is we are at about $40.8 million or 50 almost 53% of our revenues collected or realized and we are at about almost 10 million or about 13% a little under 13% of the budget has been expended." She explained that property taxes are the largest revenue source (bills are mailed in July and largely collected by December) while salaries and benefits—particularly teacher pay—are the largest expenditures and will be recognized progressively as the year continues.
The presenter framed the numbers as normal for this point in the school year, when tax collections are front‑loaded and personnel costs ramp up as staff begin work. She also reminded the committee that the district uses five‑year trends and external data (state education and local tax collector figures) when projecting revenues and that some line items (leases, outsourced custodial and security contracts) are fixed costs.
