At its September meeting the Southgate Community School District board took several procedural and action votes.
Consent agenda: The board approved the consent agenda, which included the Sept. 8, 2026 regular meeting minutes and an HR update. The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Dr. Componey and approved by voice vote.
Action items approved:
- Basketball shooting machine: Motion approved to purchase a shooting machine not to exceed $5,742; presenters said the cost will be split 50% this year and 50% next and that the vendor offered a discount from about $8,500 to roughly $5,500.
- Allen Turf Field netting: Board approved $31,920 for four mobile ball-stop netting systems (equipment $29,420 + shipping $2,500); funding will come from a facilities-designated bond; delivery ~6–8 weeks; warranty 1 year on parts and replacement parts covered up to 5 years for vandalism-related damage.
- Davidson Middle School cheer mats: Approved purchase of seven carpeted mats (vendor price $6,996.03; motion capped at $6,996) with a 24-month manufacturer's warranty; mats to be stored at Davidson and used for Southgate school programs; Davidson plans to host a Dec. 18 competition.
- JROTC overnight trip: Approved travel to Fort Knox Oct. 21–24 for the national raiders competition; transcript did not include funding or detailed logistics.
Adjournment: The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn passed by voice vote. Public comment was opened and closed without speakers at the start of the meeting.
