Wilkins told the board the county is evaluating proposals for an RFP solicitation titled "Imagining Family Shelter," which seeks to identify programs to expand family shelter capacity.
"It's out right now... the application deadline has closed, and we've received all the applications and are starting to... rank and review," Wilkins said. The solicitation could result in additional beds or program models tailored to family or other unique populations, depending on awards and procurement outcomes.
Staff said the RFP was widely advertised to the Continuum of Care, providers and procurement channels (DemandStar, county website, LinkedIn) and that the review process is ongoing. Commissioners asked how providers learn about such solicitations; staff explained standard procurement outreach and COC notification practices.
If selected, programs from the RFP would become part of the county’s shelter and prevention portfolio and be considered when planning winter-response options and diversion strategies.
