A presenter for Build Elkstrong introduced a new facility-rating tool for Centerville City schools called "Yelk," describing it as a simplified way to communicate the condition and needs of district buildings to inform master planning.
"We are calling it Yelk," the presenter said, explaining the system is modeled on consumer-rating platforms and is intended to help compare buildings against the district's standards. The presenter said the combined Yelk score will be used as an initial input for long-range facility decisions and may change after state assessments.
The presenter described the Yelk report layout as showing category ratings on the left and a combined five-star score at the top, with facts and figures and state renovation-cost estimates highlighted. The district directed listeners to view current Yelk ratings and sample reports at buildelkstrong.com.
Next steps, the presenter said, include updating the Yelk figures after an Ohio Facilities Construction Commission assessment expected later this fall and using the ratings in community conversations during the master planning process.
