Dr. Washington presented the Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) annual update and the FY27 CTAE grant recommendation. He said the Georgia Department of Education awarded Bibb County federal and state CTAE funds totaling $886,021 to expand career pathways, modernize instructional equipment and support professional learning for educators.
Washington described measurable outcomes in the program: 1,102 students served by dual enrollment in FY25–26, an increase in CTSO participation and awards, expansion of internship and apprenticeship pathways, and partnerships with local industry leaders and the Macon‑Bibb County Industrial Authority. He cited a 4,000‑hour increase in community service from participating students and noted 32 graduates who enlisted in the military.
The board moved the CTAE grant award (IS‑4) forward without extended discussion and the item was sent to the consent agenda.
