Steve Haley elected chair, Aaron Parker named vice chair of Dickson County school board

Steve Haley was nominated and elected chair of the Dickson County School Board by acclamation after a motion to close nominations, the board announced. Aaron Parker was nominated, accepted and was likewise elected vice chair by acclamation.

The votes were conducted at the start of the board's September meeting as part of the annual reorganization. A board member moved "to cease all other nominations and elect Steve Haley as chair by reasons of acclamation," and the motion carried. After Parker accepted the nomination for vice chair, the board again moved to cease nominations and elect him by acclamation.

The board then proceeded to select a legislative liaison for the year in the same manner. The leadership elections were immediately followed by routine approvals of the meeting agenda and minutes.
